An Occasional Reminder

By Jim Williams

Editor's Note: We all have thoughts — some good - some bad, but nonetheless they are thoughts. Our thoughts should be reflected upon and dealt with biblically (Rom. 12:1-3; Gal. 6:3; Phil. 3:12-17; Phil. 4:8-9; 2 Pet. 3:1, etc.). ‘Just Thinkin Out Loud' (spelling of ‘thinkin'' is purposeful) is a series of thoughts that are being made public. You may or may not agree with all of the thoughts you read in this series, but it will help all of us to discuss them — out loud. The hope of the author and editors at IIIM is that this will assist all of us to begin personal reflection upon our own thoughts and compare them with God's perspective in Holy Scripture. Readers are encouraged to use small discussion groups and/or our RPM forum for any irenic discussion(s) of these specific thoughts and others they may bring about.
A wrecker wasn't needed to place a wheel truck under a boat trailer axle so the trailer could be towed. The axle had worked out of the hub between start point and destination, but the end of the axle stayed in the recess of the wheel and rode there with the wheel spinning against it at 40 mph. With turns and stops and starts for who knows how long the trailer, with a 1500-pound boat on top, arrived at the destination and the axle just stayed there. The trailer arrived where it was towed, making noises, but they were never investigated until the trip was over. What, or rather Who, kept it there?

Firemen were not called to a kitchen fire caused by a piece of cheese falling onto a toaster element, which sparked a tiny flame. The flame died tiny, instead of also igniting whatever else was in the toaster. Why?

"The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs His steps". So true. SOOO TRUE. Steps are obviously not the only thing directed. How about looks? How about the "chance" look at the toaster when the cheese dropped and ignited? It was a candle flame blown out with a breath, but only with Divinely sovereign timing was it that way. How about the axle end? Why did it ride? How did it ride?

Its Divine sovereignty. Its protection. ITS AWESOME!

Tell me what you think, I'm just thinkin out loud!
